A little more trip!

Decided to stop in Green River once the kids hit the fan and be a little spontaneous and spend an extra day of vacation! (Truly, I think we couldn't drive another minute with a very sad baby) But it was so much fun to be spontaneous and do something totally unplanned!

FIRST OREO

First day of school

So it was the first day of school and still NO POWER! It was so wierd! But they still had school! And then the power went back on at about 11:00 that day! Ya don't realize how much you take for granted til it's not there -- And we realized how ill prepared we really were -- We need to do better with our emergency preparedness for sure! Thank goodness for little things like this to help you see where to improve!
Cutie gals soooo excited!

Power OUT!

So what did you do the day the power went out???? It was Sunday about 4:00 and we were watching the huge windstorm blow through and then the power went -- Ry's G-ma was on her way from SLC and we were a little concerned about her driving in it -- She got there and told us Legacy had just closed due to downed power lines. So we realized we were prob. going to be out for a while -- What to do for dinner .. Hmmmmmm.

We had just picked some veggies......

and we had some hamburger, so we did tinfoil dinners!

Having a grill is wonderful in times of no power!

Sunday dinner by candlelight!

after the wind stopped it was calm, beautiful and so pretty!

there was a small fire somewhere so the smoke in the air made for a pretty sunset!

After the kids went down I went to drive by the lines to see the progress. AS I drove down to West Farmington to come home it was so eeery! Pitch black!

What's been growin' in the garden?

I have been in heaven this year working in the yard! I missed it so much last year being prego and looking for a house! We've had so much fun with our gardens and the veggies have done well too!

The last three home that we have lived in now all have something in common -- Mom's daisies! My Mom planted daisies all over our back yard and I always have loved them -- She is the reason that I love being in the yard so much -- She taught me to really LOVE yard work -- My Dad tells me every Spring to come get starts for my garden and I do because it means so much to have a little bit of something Mom planted in my own garden!

Old friends!

We had a fun visit from our friends the Ganschows! They have been friends for a very long time! When my Mom was pregnant with me -Wendy was our babysitter and almost like a member of the fam -- We stayed in contact through the years even though she was in CA and we had moved to UT. She got married and was preg. with her first baby and they had me come out when I was 16 and stay to help her get ready for the baby! (See the baby in the pic below) It was a dream summer and so much fun! Well, that baby is now going to BYU and then on a mission in the Spring! They came to take him to school and had me do his "late' Sr. pics and mission pics. I can't believe how time flies and am so grateful for dear, life-long friends~!

Chocolate!

A few friends decided it would be fun to take the kids on a tour of the Mrs. Cavanaughs Factory in Salt Lake. To Carter's dissapointment, it was nothing like Carlie and the Chocolate Factory -- but still a fun thing and yummy chocolate at the end!

APRICOTS!

It's time again for apricots! Our friends in Bountiful have several huge apricot trees and always ask us if we want any and say to come pick as many as we can-- Well, I took the girls and my friend Trish and we did! It was so much fun and yummy too! Time to get canning! I love this time of year!
