So today I used my 20 lbs of tomatoes (again from Bountiful Baskets) and made my Mom's chile sauce! There is something about canning that makes me feel close to her. Especially reading this recipe, in her beautiful handwriting, with her instructions, smelling the onions and peppers cook with tomatoes and spices, remembering my younger days with the same aroma in my home, and just being grateful for her and feeling like I have a little bit of her with me in that moment.

I have certain things that I love about my mom also. She has really cool writing because she grew up in England. It's fun to look at.
Your mom is so lucky to have a sweet daughter who is still loving her and doing things "with" her. I wish I could have met her because she sounds like an amazing woman.
Wow, I seriously think I'm going to have to try this produce thing. Canning in February? Wow, that would be paradise and make me feel like it's the middle of August! Your mom must've been one amazing lady...just by knowing you a little bit. :)
What a beautiful, perfect post. Thank you for sharing.
PS Thanks again for Sunday. We had a fantastic time and the food was awesome. I hope sweet Grace is feeling better. Love you guys!
Jealous! I want to can something. And it looks so yummy!
If your pickles turn out, I need to get your recipe.
